Since Busan KCC Egis stepped onto the KBL stage, a handful of names have echoed through the arena. Five of them have become the club’s symbols. Their deeds go beyond stats; they live in fans’ minds.
Kim Tae-sul – Defensive Maestro
Kim Tae-sul anchored Egis’ defense from the early 2000s. In the 2005‑06 season he logged the league’s most steals and snagged the Defensive MVP award. His quick feet and fingertip feel broke up opponents’ flow. In the 2007 finals he tallied 12 steals, steering the team to the title.
Lee Seung-hyun – Scoring Machine
Lee Seung-hyun entered the roster in 2004 and never stopped putting points on the board. He averaged 22.3 points in 2008‑09, clinching the scoring crown and pushing Egis to the top. His dribble flowed like water, and his three‑point shot was razor‑sharp. At the 2010 All‑Star game he poured in 38 points, sending the crowd into a frenzy.
Park Chan-hee – The Heartbeat
Park Chan-hee wore the captain’s armband from 2012 onward. He could flip a game’s mood with a single shout or a decisive play. In the 2014 playoffs he dropped 15 points in just 30 minutes, turning a deficit into a win. The final buzzer that night rang at 7:45 PM, and the stands erupted.
Marcus Faison – The Foreign Scorer
American point guard Marcus Faison joined Egis for the 2009‑10 season. He posted averages of 18.7 points and 5.2 assists, earning a spot among the league’s top imports. On March 12, 2010 he exploded for 45 points, sealing a crucial victory. His style introduced a fresh offensive rhythm to the KBL.
Choi Sung-hoon – Rebound Maestro
Choi Sung-hoon arrived in 2015 and quickly became a rebounding force. In 2017‑18 he grabbed 10.4 boards per game, forming the team’s second pillar. He used his body to box out opponents and secure the ball. The final rebound that night came with 2 minutes 13 seconds left on the clock.
These five players each filled a different role, yet they share a common thread: whenever Egis needed a win, their names resurfaced. Their stats sit in record books, but their moments still pulse in the hearts of supporters.
